This is hard to believe, but the photo showing the single yellow flower is an Indian Strawberry or barren strawberry plant. It was taken by the pumping station and there are several of them there. They are not native of this country but come from India. Their fruit is tasteless and not like our regular strawberries. The other photo is of a Hop or Bur Clover plant and taken beside the trail west of the pumping station. There are several of these with the very small Blue-eyed Grass flowers shown way down close to the ground below them.

How did a flower in India migrate to the American heartland? :) I hope it hasn't caused any ecological imbalance, as other migrating flora and fauna have.

Thanks AJ and shaz for your comments. I read about the Indian Strawberry plant being a native of India. I don't know how it got here but I have heard from others who say it is quite common around the country. I used to raise regular strawberries and the leaves look just like our native strawberry plants. That threw me at first because the regular plants have white flowers. This strawberry plant, I think, is the only one with yellow flowers.
