Bona Dea Indigo Bunting Update

Bona Dea was cloudy and a little windy and wet. It had rained 1.47 inches over the past 24 hours. However to my surprise the trails were not flooded and not really that much water going over the spillway. The Cliff Swallows and American Crows were out and about over Lake Dardanelle by the park. The surprise of the day was a pair of beautiful Indigo Bunting birds. The photos here shows 2 of the bright blue male in a tree and his mate on the trail eating seeds. The other photo is of a red Male Northern Cardinal and this pair of Buntings eating seeds that have washed down and piled up on the trail making it easy to find food today. Carolina Chickadees and Tufted Titmouse birds were active and flying around and singing. No turtles out today due to the weather conditions. There were several bright red Northern Cardinals all around the park. There seem to be more of these type birds at the park than in recent years.
